Akwa Ibom State Commandant of NSCDC,*CC Geraldine Sixtus Abetianbe*, has ordered the deployment of 600 personnel to enhance security in the state during Easter festivities and beyond. The personnel will provide physical security at places of worship, recreational centers, malls, playgrounds, and other key locations, including critical infrastructures.
Comdt Abetianbe tasked DCC Stanley Okpiabhele, Head of Operations, with coordinating the deployment with Area Commanders, Divisional Officers across the state’s 31 LGAs, and tactical specialised squads like Agro-rangers, Female Strike Force, Anti-vandal, and Armed Squad. The commandant directed that the deployment should ensure adequate coverage of all strategic locations, including churches, and other places of worship, as well as popular tourist attractions and commercial centers.
Comdt Abetianbe also directed 24-hour patrols of identified black spots, emphasizing the need for vigilance to prevent and respond to potential security threats. She emphasized the need for officers to remain professional, courteous, firm, and disciplined while on duty, sticking to the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedure SOP.
While extending her goodwill, the NSCDC boss urged Christians to celebrate moderately, reflecting on the ideals of love, selflessness, forgiveness and sacrifice which Jesus embodied.
Comdt Abetianbe further calls on members of the public to support security agencies with relevant information and on time. She called on religious leaders to continue to preach peace and unity as she extended warm felicitations to all Akwa Ibomites on the occasion of Easter Celebration.
