Ahead of the 2026 Easter celebration, the Abia State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps- *CC Odimba Chukwuemeka N. KSM, JP* has reassured the general public of the Command’s unreserved commitment to her mandates of protection of lives and property in the state.
Commandant Chukwuemeka gave the reassurance on Friday, 3rd April,2026 during a Press Conference at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia. He said the Command has emplaced measures to ensure a hitch free Easter celebration in the State.
According to Commandant Chukwuemeka *“Easter celebration is one of the important yearly events in the Christian calendar which comes with increased human activities and its attendant security and traffic implications. In view of the above and in strict compliance with the directives of the Commandant General – *Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR to ensure a hitch free Easter celebration, the Corps has deployed a total of 700 personnel to ensure public safety before, during and after the celebration.”*
Speaking further, the new Abia NSCDC helmsman said the personnel deployed for the Easter operation were drawn from the newly reactivated Operational and Tactical Teams of the Command while Area Commanders and Divisional Officer have been directed to be on yellow and effectively monitor and supervise personnel under them to ensure effective security coverage and coordination within the rural areas.
On VIP protection to deserving personalities in the State, Commandant Chukwuemeka said the Command has adequately provided such services in strict compliance with the CG’s directives.
The State Commandant disclosed that the Command’s crime fighting strategies have received a boost following the Commandant General’s recent approval and release of some *Specialized Tech Driven Crime Fighting Equipments* to combat crimes in Abia State. He further stated that the new tech driven crime fighting equipments were being deployed and handled by highly skilled personnel for optimal results.
Giving insights on how the personnel were deployed, the Abia NSCDC Boss said special considerations were given to Worship Centers,Recreational Centers, government facilities and other Critical National assets and infrastructure across the state. He assured that all Officers and Men deployed for the Easter operations will be strictly supervised to ensure professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He called on members of the public to provide credible intelligence to the Corps and other security agencies in the State to serve them better. He however warned criminal elements in the state to either turn a new leaf or relocate as the Corps will not tolerate any act capable of disrupting the relative peace in the state.
