The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, stating that creating opportunities for young people to thrive remains a top priority of his government.
The Council Chairman stated this on Saturday, June 20, 2026, during the presentation of empowerment items under the N20 Million Youth Empowerment Program organized by Bonny Youth 360, an online community led by Redd Awanta. The program was fully sponsored and funded by the Bonny Local Government Council as part of ongoing efforts to support entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance among young people in the area.
The empowerment initiative saw the distribution of various business support items, including 20 deep freezers, 15 sewing machines, 23 POS machines, 10 wig-making machines, and other equipment designed to enhance the productivity and sustainability of small businesses owned by young entrepreneurs. Over 100 young people from across Bonny LGA benefited from the program.
Speaking at the event, the Council Chairman commended the organizers for the successful implementation of the initiative. He further announced an increase in funding for the program, from N20 million to N25 million for the 2027 edition.
Chairman Pepple urged all beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items provided to grow their businesses and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
He also disclosed that the Local Government Council is set to commence additional empowerment programs targeted at women, single mothers, and widows, beginning in July 2026, as part of the administration’s broader strategy to improve livelihoods and promote inclusive economic growth.
