The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, has urged members of the Project Implementation Task Team (PITT) to translate the knowledge acquired from the ongoing “AI Zero to Hero” training into practical improvements in research, productivity, reporting and professional development.
Dr. Ajani gave the charge at the close of the five-day intensive Artificial Intelligence training programme organised for PITT members at Digital Bridge, Utako, Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary emphasized that the value of the training extended beyond the completion of assignments and the receipt of certificates, urging participants to demonstrate the practical application of their newly acquired skills through evidence-based reports, analytical assessments and research relevant to their responsibilities within the Ministry.
She noted that, having been equipped with relevant digital and Artificial Intelligence tools, PITT members were now better positioned to independently conduct research, analyse activities and identify opportunities for improvement within their respective departments and PITT sub-committees.
Dr. Ajani advised participants to take greater initiative in their areas of responsibility, stressing that they should not wait for instructions before undertaking constructive research and analysis on issues relevant to their work.
According to her, the ultimate objective of the training was to translate knowledge into measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency and service delivery across the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary also encouraged participants to share their newly acquired knowledge with colleagues, noting that continuous knowledge transfer would broaden the pool of officers equipped to effectively deploy emerging technologies in the public service.
While acknowledging the importance of the training, Dr. Ajani cautioned participants against viewing the five-day programme as the end of their learning journey. She encouraged them to continue building their capacity, exploring new AI applications and improving their proficiency in the use of digital tools.
She further highlighted the long-term professional value of acquiring relevant digital competencies, noting that the knowledge and skills gained could remain valuable to officers both during and beyond their public service careers.
Dr. Ajani encouraged the participants to distinguish themselves through competence, professionalism, initiative and readiness to undertake meaningful assignments, stressing that professional reputation is built over time through the quality and impact of work delivered.
The Permanent Secretary commended the organisers, facilitators, Zimedy Services, and the participants for their commitment to the programme. She instructed the trainees to complete their assignments and, more importantly, demonstrate the practical impact of the knowledge acquired through their work.
She expressed confidence that the training would contribute to strengthening innovation, productivity and evidence-based decision-making within the Ministry of Interior.
