

It is on record that the Executive Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, High Chief Hon. Eugene Chita Epelle, JP has demonstrated exemplary leadership since he assumed office as the people of the area can testify to it.
In recognition of his excellent leadership, people-centred governance, and unwavering commitment to the socio-economic development of his Local Government Area, Hon. Epelle bagged an “Award of Excellence in Good Governance” by the Coalition of Supporters of Democracy and Good Governance 21 July, 2026.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Coalition to the Chairman at the Council Secretariat, where the organisation commended his administration for its remarkable strides in promoting accountable governance, responsive leadership, and sustainable community development.
Barr. Gashon Bob Achor, while presenting the award on behalf of the Coalition described the honour as a merit-based recognition of the Chairman’s exceptional performance in office.
He noted that the Coalition’s assessment of the administration reflected a leadership style anchored on integrity, service, and measurable impact on the lives of the people of the Local Government Area.
Barr. Achor particularly applauded the Chairman’s youth empowerment initiatives, describing them as strategic investments in human capital and the future of Ahoada West.
According to him, the administration has consistently demonstrated prudence in the deployment of public resources towards programmes and initiatives that directly improve the welfare of the people and promote inclusive development.
He further cited the Chairman’s timely intervention in the rescue of three young girls, who were reportedly at risk of human trafficking, asserting the action as a demonstration of responsive leadership, compassion, and a firm commitment to the protection of vulnerable members of society. He added that such interventions exemplify the qualities of public service deserving of commendation and public recognition.
The Coalition also acknowledged the Chairman’s leadership philosophy, noting that his approach to governance reflects the values of purposeful administration, accountability, and service.
It expressed confidence that the recognition would serve as further encouragement for him to sustain the high standards of leadership and good governance for which his administration has become known.
In his acceptance remarks, High Chief Hon. Eugene Chita Epelle, JP, expressed profound appreciation to the Coalition of Supporters of Democracy and Good Governance for the honour bestowed upon him.
He described the award as a source of renewed inspiration and a call to greater service, noting that the recognition belongs not only to him but to every member of his administration whose collective efforts have contributed to the progress being recorded in Ahoada West Local Government Area.
The Executive Chairman dedicated the award to his mentor, Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, GSSRS, the Minister of FCT, whose guidance and leadership, he said, have continued to inspire his philosophy of public service. He also expressed gratitude to Almighty God for His grace, wisdom, and strength throughout his journey in leadership.
