On Monday, July 6, 2026, I had the honour of delivering a lecture at the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja, on the topic: “Public Opinion and the Media in Crisis Management in Nigeria: My Experience” to participants of Course 34/2025
During my presentation, I emphasised the critical role of the media in shaping public opinion during periods of crisis. I encouraged the participants to appreciate the importance of timely, accurate, and responsible communication, as well as constructive engagement with the media as an indispensable partner in promoting national security, public trust, and effective crisis management.
It was a privilege to share the platform with distinguished personalities, including Brigadier General S. K. Usman (PhD), former military spokesperson; veteran broadcaster Uncle Cyril Stober; and Associate Professor Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, whose insights enriched the session.
My sincere appreciation goes to my brother and friend, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, the 22nd Commandant of the National Defence College, for the invitation, warm hospitality, and the opportunity to engage with Nigeria’s future strategic leaders.
I equally appreciate members of Faculty, participants and Staff for their coordination and constructive engagement.
