The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Chike Princewill, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, transparent and forward-looking University system driven by excellence in teaching, research and community service.
Professor Princewill gave the assurance when he received the Management Team of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), led by its Chief Medical Director, Professor Chuturu Orluwene, during a courtesy visit to his office.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that his administration is focused on building bridges, strengthening institutional relationships and creating an enabling environment for all members of the University community to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the institution.
Professor Princewill commended the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for its invaluable contributions to medical education and the training of healthcare professionals in Nigeria. He urged the management of the hospital to sustain its culture of excellence and continue to uphold the high standards for which the institution is known.
Describing UPTH as an integral part of the University of Port Harcourt family, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the Teaching Hospital occupies a strategic position in the University’s pursuit of excellence in medical education, research and healthcare delivery. He assured the delegation of his administration’s readiness to deepen collaboration between both institutions for their mutual benefit.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of UPTH, Professor Chuturu Orluwene, congratulated Professor Chike Princewill on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, describing his emergence as a significant milestone.
He urged the Vice-Chancellor to discharge the responsibilities of his office with the fear of God and provide visionary leadership that would further enhance the University’s reputation and achievements.
